Starring is the curved café-counter.
It is standing proud of the rest of the kitchen, defined by its dynamic triangular sides, which project out sculpturally into the space. The custom piece is veneered in exotic mappa burl. It is topped by thick glass, raised to bar level, and supported by stainless steel cylinders, allowing the user to see through to the island counter below. The café-counter faces the rest of the kitchen, the island and the flat screen on the tall storage wall. It is lit by three green pendants, recessed low voltage lighting, and an added skylight flooding it with sunlight from above.
The client, a high-power attorney on the go, enjoys breakfast while watching the news, before he runs off to a long day’s work.
